New Town Center PUD development approved by the Town of Guilderland to be constructed at the corner of Route 20 and Winding Brook Rd. This project was designed to utilize the existing community’s public centers such as the Library, YMCA and Elementary School as the focal points of this new village green which creates a real and substantial public realm to serve as the gathering place for the town. The development has been conceived and designed along the principals of “New Urbanism.” New Urbanism is a large component of the development plan put forth by smart growth advocates. At its core, New Urbanism stresses the development of walkable communities that are designed around the living options. When designed properly, they can convey a positive sense of place, including very memorable and usable public spaces.
